Amazing food with great options for vegetarians, vegans, and meat lovers in a fantastic venue. I have to highlight our waitress, Chelsea, who was incredibly attentive and thoughtful. She made our night and offered recommendations that were worthwhile and delicious!
Chose this as a dinner date with a friend on a Thursday evening, parking was very tricky, we ended up having to walk about a block back. Did not see a designated parking lot for the restaurant, but the street itself is quite small. The hostess asked us if we had reservations, which we didn't, and we were still seated immediately. We were given water without having to ask, which I always appreciate. We chose to share the ceviche and four tacos: the asada steak, chicken tinga, mushroom, and the cauliflower al pastor. My favorite of the four tacos was the asada, with the cauliflower tacos a close second. For drinks I tried a guava agua fresca, which had more of a limeade with a guava after taste. The ceviche was delicious, not too citrusy and fishy at all. Would go back just for the ceviche!
Fabulous adorable Mexican outdoor restaurant in Venus. The decor is so unique! I suggest making a reservation otherwise you'll have to wait. Everything is fresh and made from scratch including the chips..I'm a vegetarian and I had no problem finding incredible tacos.. they different and delicious!! Check this place out and have a Margarita.. I did.. it was delicious..or have one of their drink specialties.. you won't be disappointed!!
VEGAN REVIEW Feels like you are in Tulum... but def paying LA prices Lots of vegan options. The tortilla soup is TASTY. A few taco options which are good, but not WOW. Of course you have to get the guac. Good service. Love the vibe!
For a larger group during lunch on a Tuesday, Chulita was the perfect stop for tacos and some apps. It's not a huge dining area, but spaces in the back and front of the restaurant allow for extra room. Summertime vibes in Venice, you can't beat the outdoors. We started with the sweet potato taquitos and chips & guac. Both were great. The corn is also cooked well. If you like corn, this place has it down to a science. However, the tacos are where it's at. I went with the fish and beef. The beef had beats in it (or some type of onion), that I didn't really expect, but without them it tasted amazing. I'm definitely going to be looking into trying more the menu in the future. I liked Chulita a lot!
Ok - this place was recommended by someone that I work with.... because someone else that I work with is a partial owner.... please note that this review is NOT based up that. Chulita stands on its own merit! We started with the guacamole. It was "lime heavy" but not too much so... and the avocados were so fresh! (Alex told us they are brough in daily from the valley). And the blue corn chips were an eye pleasing touch! Next up, barbacoa taco, mushroom taco with housemade casava tortilla, chile relleno, and Chulita bowl. I cannot tell you what had better flavor.... or which was the freshest.... or even which I liked the best, because it was all so delicious! While not a vegetarian or vegan restaurant, Chuilta has plenty of choices for both and meat eaters won't even miss the lack of carnivorous selections. All of the flavors are so well balanced! Everything was light but filling and with just the right amount of crunch. Quite literally the perfect meal for a CA afternoon! And it's all so pretty! We sat outside, and it didn't seem too hustly and bustly. We loved watching the people. A lot of times when you're not in the main part of the retaurant, the service takes a dip, but Alex was so incredibly attentive and a pleasure to talk with! He made certain that all of our "needs" were attended to. I will certainly return to Chulita - all enthusiastic thumbs up on this one!!
Tony is the best server we have ever seen! He made the experience so so enjoyable and the food is ofc delicious
Met a dear friend for lunch here and what a lovely experience! I booked a table through Resy and included a note re table preference. They went above and beyond to accommodate us and made our visit feel so personal. Imagine that, people who still care about providing great service and appreciate the art of servicing! Seems so obvious in the service industry but rarely practiced these days, unfortunately. The food was so yummy, with some fun vegan options that don't have you feeling like you're missing out. Even better were the clever cocktails and generous wine/beer list. Something for everyone! The space is adorable; open, inviting, comfortable, spotless, and perfect Venice vibes. Go check it out, order a variety of items to share, and DEFINITELY get the churros for dessert!
I came back here because I miss their fish taco and vegan churros. And it's women history month, so I went to support another women-owned business. The fish taco did not disappoint. It was still as substantial, fresh and flavorful as the first time I had it. I did find the vegan churros to be a bit more dry than I remembered. Still I had a great experience. Our server, I wish I had gotten her name was super friendly! I love her energy! This time, in addition to the fish taco, we also got the steak taco, guacamole and chips (blue corn chips which some people like and some people don't) and the house guava margarita. My partner thought the margarita was just ok. The ambiance was great and the service was excellent The prices are a bit on the higher side. So be prepared for that. The food quality overall was good. It's still a very cool place with a strong identity. The entire dinner menu is gluten-free. So for people who want to eat clean in a place with a beautiful and chill vibe, this is your spot!
